You are looking at a Gibson Ripper Fretless Bass with its original hard
shell case. I am selling this for one of my responsible students. He is interested in getting a 4-string fretted instrument and is hoping that the sale of this one will equip him with the cash to do it.
This one shows some wear here and there, but keep in mind that this bass is 30 years old or more. There is some light scratching on the back where the bass would rub on someone's body, as well as some bigger nicks here and there. I tried to point out the biggest ones in the pictures----top of the headstock, backside of one of the wings, as well as a couple bigger ones on the back of the neck. The pick guard also has a nick out of one of the corners, as seen in the picture. The truss rod cover is missing. The case is also worn and has duct tape all the way around the outside of it. Inside the case is fine. I plugged it in and it works fine. A couple things that I noticed was that the jack might need to be replaced because either that or one of the volume pots seems a little suspect. Also I would put some different strings on the bass if it were mine because the taper core of the strings tapers before the nut and causes the strings to be just a touch too low. All in all, if you know what you are looking at, this is a great vintage instrument in good condition. Don't get caught up in the subtle things. This thing really plays nice and has a great tone! Big, big sound!!!
I accept paypa
