To be honest I know why I need to sell my Rick, I just don't know why.
Anyway, you are bidding on a left handed Rickenbacker 4001 bass with working Ric-o-Sound. It will be shippied with an original case. As all of you who are looking already know, this bass is a 70's growler. If you've ever really heard what a Rick bass was capable of then this one is what you're looking for. I currently am only doing some home recording and I use a Fender for light work. I will miss this guitar.
Now onto the description. First off the bass is devoid of finish. It was sanded down to the bare maple before I bought it and the sound is still fantastic. I love the feel of the bass this way. It is so smooth. The neck is incredibly fast. There is a spot near the bridge that has a quarter size remnant of Mapleglo finish(clearcoat) and the binding has not been sanded to the white. All of this does not affect the playing or sound at all.
There is a small crack in the pickguard next to the side of the neck pick up. Any other minor flaws can be seen in photos. There isn't much to pick up. Since I've had the bass, I've maintained it the best I could. I replaced the Rick switch with a new(retro) Rick switch and new nut as the old one was worn and the strings were beginning to buzz. Not a problem anymore. I wax the chrome, and currently have it waxed. I will ship it polished.(no silicates) The case, though, is in rough shape. Some of the tolex is history and the wood edges are getting a little worn. It's usable, but a new case is recommended in the future.
