I purchased a Fender MIM Jazz FSR, in early 08. The body is solid ash with a maple neck. Even thought it was made in Mexico the fit and finsh is very nice (looked at four prior to purchase) and well worth looking into if you not ready to plop down the big bucks for American made. The stock p/u's did hum so I swapped them out for Fender's SCNs--very nice! I have had long time bass players try the bass out and only received good compliments. Note when looking a MIM take your time and look for the right one. The solid Ash body is a bit heavy but the sound is very warm, with low end growl.
